Canary Wharf Original

It was a grey overcast day when I ventured down along the Thames to the Millenium Dome ( now branded The O2). This shot was taken across the river Thames from the pedestrian path.

The initial idea I had was to try to turn the image into a ‘dark’ city scape and extenuate the forms of the buildings.  The first step was to turn the RAW image into black and white.

An improvement on the original, however, I needed to get a ‘grunge’ look and so added a texture layer to the image.

The layer was added in multiply mode with an opacity of 79% using Photoshop Elements. I was pleased with this result however, thought that a simple crop bringing the focus more onto the buildings would give me the final result I was looking for.
